i cant believe how long its been since ive posted pictures of my drawing stuff.
we started pastels with a still of a bag and some apples, i didnt post that because it was boring compared to these. i started with the butterfly (we picked a bug photo and went to work), then moved to the self portrait, if you go to my flickr account you can compare the pastel to the original photo. then i moved to the degas master copy of the dancers, put that on hold and worked on the pastries and finished both of them up for my portfolio presentation.
i really like my dinosaur cookie.
if you get a chance, come see them in person, theyre really colorful and neat. im pretty proud of them all. the degas took forever, layering all of the colors, trying to find blending matches... ugh. but its nice looking. thats pretty much the last half of the semester.
also, i got deans list again. woo.
its been a pretty bland day, but i managed to wipe out another assignment, i finished my INK drawing. of my shoes! i like it a lot. id almost say ink was better than pencil, its got a great feel and expression, but its so terribly unforgiving. you not only have to plan everything out ahead in detail, but you cant make any execution mistakes. as you can see, ive got some work to do with ink. fortunately, i think we're moving on to scratchboard next (which is actually just as unforgiving)
the semester is almost over! im done with four out of my five classes already! just one more giant portfolio to complete and turn in. as you can see, weve accomplished quite a bit in drawing over the past few months. heres one of the last assignments. ive got two more drawings to put up, but youll have to wait until i get my portfolio back on monday, i just turned it in today. i should be completely done with school by tuesday. then i can get back into retro gaming and work on buying you all presents.
also, take notice of how awful these pictures are. clearly photography1 will be of some use. i think these came out better simply because theyre on colored paper. the less light reflection, the easier it is for the camera to focus. look back at all the other metientes drawings, they all came out pretty clear compared to that whole slew of hands on white.
so that last post didnt make it over to lj. maybe this one will.
two new art projects. a distorted self portrait, and a painting with spacial cues.
i again plead for people to let me know whats going on with the uva@vt game. if you are going, i am in need of people to sit with, and possibly a place to stay. since its a noon game, i may just head home afterwards (unless people convince me there may be festivities or other things worth my while to attend)
